CODE OF CONDUCT

The Code of Conduct sets out the guidelines and recommendations for the safe practice of harness dog sports in the maritimes in accordance with national and international standards for individual MAHDS members and MAHDS affiliate clubs.

RULES & REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPANTS

These rules are premised on international and Canadian standards designed to ensure the safety of all dogs and human participants, as well as fairness in competition.

RULES & REQUIREMENTS FOR EVENT ORGANIZERS

MAHDS will work with event organizers to ensure high quality, safe, and fun events. All event organizers should review and be familiar with these requirements.

REGIONAL CIRCUIT REGULATIONS

MAHDS keeps track of sanctioned race results and tallies the totals for individual and club points for year-end standings and awards. This document explains the requirements for the Regional Circuit and the calculation of points for annual standings.

RULES & REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-COMPETITIVE CLASSES

These rules (in conjunction with the Rules & Requirements for Event Organizers) are designed to ensure these classes run safely, with a focus on fun and in a manner that promotes harness dog sport development in our region. Note, these rules apply to both participants and organizers for non-competitive classes.

RULES & REQUIREMENTS FOR OFFICIALS

An Official must be present at all sanctioned competitive events. Officials must be familiar with and adhere to all MAHDS rules. The Event Official has sole jurisdiction to settle disputes regarding participants and is a representative of MAHDS at the event.  This document lays out the Official's role and responsibilities.

GUIDELINES FOR AFFILIATED CLUBS

Part of MAHDS' mission is to build and promote the safe and fun practice of harness dog sports in the Maritimes. One way we're working to fulfill this goal is by helping to set up and support affiliated clubs in NB, NS, and PEI. Interested in starting a club in your area? Want to know what makes an affiliated club special? Get in touch! We're here to help!
